Child Care Center: Help us Save it!
Project Summary:
We are trying to save a neighborhood child care site that is owned by SFUSD from being sold to developers. The site is currently vacant but is essentially "turn key" to a child care operator. There are classrooms, kitchen, offices, bathrooms, large playground and other space in good shape and ready to use.
SFUSD will decide if they should sell the property soon! We need residents to let the School Board know we want this site to remain a child care facility for our neighborhood children and oppose selling the property to developers.
The child care site is located at 1155 Page Street (near Baker), just south of our Panhandle Park. It used to be called the Florence Martin Child Care site.
We will be updating this project page with sample letters you can use to write the school board and online petitions you can sign. Keep checking this page!
Please contact Jim Bracken at jimbracken@yahoo.com if you want to get more involved to help us save this site. Your voice will help us retain this site for our families. We need your help, please get involved!

DMV Site
Project Summary:
The possible redevelopment of the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) site on 1377 Fell Street could be the most significant development in the neighborhood in the near future.
The State of California’s Department of General Services (DGS) is currently reviewing developer proposals submitted prior to a February 29, 2008 Request for Proposal (RFP) deadline.
The current RFP is actually an amended RFP based on feedback provided by developers from an original RFP issued in 2007. According to state documents: “…this project will involve a ground lease to the selected developer, development by the selected developer of a mixed use project on the site and construction of a Department of Motor Vehicles field office to be leased to the State as one component of the mixed use project.”
