communication and build community. 3. a unique individual.

Take some responsibility on your block. Help people get to know one another and build community. Improve safety, cleanliness and sense of pride amongst your immediate neighbors. This is where the rubber meets the road. Be a hero, sign up to get involved.

Block Party Coordinators

Our Block Party is now an official 'don't miss' event. We have bands, DJs, games for kids, merchants, and food! And we need your help to start the planning process now. The party will be held in May on Lyon Street, between Grove and Hayes.

Duties:

  • Work with the City to get the street blocked off.
  • Coordinate the music, activities, and merchants.
  • Help with the promotions and publicity.

Contact Leela Gill if you want to get involved.

Newsletter Delivery

Fulfill your dreams of being a paperboy/girl ! Every other month, more than 2500 newsletters have to be hand-delivered around the North of Panhandle neighborhood. You can do it while you walk your dog, or count it as your evening "constitutional". Wayne Edfors, newsletter delivery coordinator, will deliver the newsletters to your door, with your "route assignment" (guaranteed not to be more than 4 blocks from your house, of course); all you have to do is take a walk. It also gives you a good excuse to talk to that cute neighbor that you always see washing their car!

You can try it out once or twice, or commit for a longer period.

Duties:

  • Every other month, agree to distribute a set of newsletters to the doors of your neighbors. We have set routes, some that need people right now. We try and get you the newsletters at least a week in advance of the meeting. It takes about 10 minutes to do one block, both sides of the street. Check in via phone or email to be sure you can deliver each issue.

Contact Will for more details or to volunteer.

Newsletter Staff

We have a dedicated group of people writing and producing the newsletter, but we need help. If you want to volunteer some time, but need to do it on your own time, this is a great place to start.

Duties:

  • Editing, reporting, and/or working with the printer and getting things done on time. Being aware of what our community should be reading about. OR, work with our advertising people, and help sell, organize, and bill ads in our newsletter.

Contact Suzanne for more details or to volunteer.

NOPNA Parents Group

Be part of a group that connects, communicates and cares about each other!

NOPNA Parents are welcome to post notes to each other about classes, babysitting resources, parenting "lessons learned", and more on our yahoo group board. Occasionally we plan neighborhood play-dates, parties, and trips to local attractions like the Zoo or Exploratorium. Please see the NOPNA parents page for more detailed information about the NOPNA parents group.

Contact Ralph Lewin if you want to learn more about the group.

NoPa Little Ones

NoPa little ones is a new parent run playgroup which is funded by first 5 San Francisco. NoPa Little Ones meets monthly on the First Sunday of each month. The group is always looking for parents to help plan and organize our monthly playgroups, or even volunteers to be in charge of food or supplies for a playgroup (reimbursed through the grant.) Please see the NOPNA Parents page for more detailed info about NoPa Little Ones.

Contact Jane Zimmerman to learn more about volunteering for the group.
